In this last week I have been writing everyday before going to bed.
This was because last Sunday I wrote a post where I talked about different ways to improve my routine.
One of the things I talked about was just picking three goals you want to improve on, this way, you won't feel overwhelmed.
Another thing was to keep yourself accountable.
Now this, I know can be hard, so I decided to put it to the test by writing about my day everyday. This way, I know I'm getting my tasks done.
But in this post I want to talk about other ways to keep yourself accountable, and why it's so important.
Why it's so important to be accountable to achieve your goals?
While I don't have all the answers, this is what I found to be most helpful for me.
When you have a specific goal, it's important to create a plan that is specific, and then, break it down into more steps, this is to keep you organized, and have clear tasks.
Accountability comes in when you feel unmotivated to do the tasks, but if you have a plan in place, you will be more likely to follow through with it.
You also have to decide that you are doing this task for you, and not for when you feel like it.
There is a quote that goes "Follow your plan and not your mood".
This is very important, and it's exactly why you need to keep accountable, because, there are days when you will be tired, or unmotivated, but you need to choose yourself, and do it anyway, because it's beneficial for you.
And don't be disheartened when it doesn't go according to plan every time.
When I was writing this week, I was very honest when I didn't follow through with my tasks, but the most important thing is that I kept going.
How to keep yourself accountable to achieve your goals?
Here are some ways that I came up with in order to keep yourself accountable.
My favourite way to keep myself accountable is to write it down. Having a journal where I can write my tasks everyday, and even plan it out every month.
I have my everyday journal, and I also have a separate calendar where I plan for the month.
Another way is to keep reminders on your phone, this way you don't forget.
You can also ask your friends or a family member to either remind you, and keep you motivated, but also join you. Say you want to start running, you can ask if anyone wants to join you, this way, it's less likely you will forget, or want to skip.
A great way to keep yourself accountable is to reward yourself. Give yourself the task for the week, and choose a reward that you will give yourself if you achieve said goal, then track your progress throughout the week, and at the end of the week, you can reward yourself.
That is all that I have for today.
Let me know what else you come up with.
I hope you have a very productive and relaxing week.
Use today as a reset, and try these methods for this new week, until you find the one that works for you.
